Women in Ireland don’t talk about hormone health with other women or their partners, with many suffering in silence and dealing with hormone imbalance symptoms on their own, which can be difficult. So many women are not aware that their hormones health effects their mood, energy levels and much more, and that good nutrition and exercise can help to keep hormone health in balance.

Along with Cleanmarine MenoMin Ambassador, Lorraine Keane, we are kick starting the hormone health conversation for women across the country, with the ‘Let’s Talk Hormone Health’ Podcasts, which are available to listen to from the 18th October on this blog page, social media channels and on Soundcloud to coincide with World Menopause Day. Speaking about perimenopause during the podcasts, Lorraine said, “I had no idea that perimenopause was relevant to me in my late 30’s or early 40’s because it had menopause attached to it…. I’ve come out and said I’ve perimenopause and it’s not something to be ashamed of, it’s just another stage that we are going to have to go through. We are all living longer now”.

Lorraine Keane Talks Hormone Health with friends Maia Dunphy and Aisling O'Loughlin

Talking about women’s hormone health, Maia Dunphy, commented, “Women’s health is not talked about and often brushed under the carpet. We are very stoic; women get on with things. All the way through puberty, fertility, getting older, we accept that dealing with uncomfortable things is part of being a woman”. Maia also admitted, ‘I don’t think I knew anything about hormone Health until I was pregnant."

Commenting on the "Let’s Talk Hormone Health" campaign, Aisling O’Loughlin, added, “It’s encouraging the conversation along and no matter what you're going through, whether you’re suffering or you’re handling it you have the space to say it out loud… I’ve never really called it “Hormotional” but when I think about it and look back, of course it was hormones”.

We hope you enjoy listening to Lorraine and her friends open up about their hormone health, and that it encourages you to do the same.
