Many parents are concerned about their children’s ability to socialise with their classmates while staying safe and concentrate in lessons after such a long time away from the classroom, and of course prepare their immune systems for daily school contact.
Our Immune system is one of the most important and complex systems in our bodies. Important ways to help maintain a healthy immune system include
> Getting enough sleep. Sleep and immunity are intrinsically connected.
> Include more Omega healthy fats, such as oily fish, nuts and seeds, great for growing brains too!
> Encourage moderate regular exercise.
> Stay hydrated.
> Manage your child’s stress levels and look at ways to switch off schoolwork and daily chores.
> Get enough Vitamin D daily. Also known as the sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D helps to maintain the normal function of the immune system.
While Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), which is the active form the body requires is present in some foods, it can be very difficult to obtain an adequate supply daily. As it’s a fat-soluble vitamin, or more correctly called a hormone, it is generally contained in animal products and fat foods such as oily fish- salmon, sardines, herring and mackerel, red meat, liver, egg yolks and fortified foods – such as some fat spreads and breakfast cereals. As people switch to more plant based diets our requirements for Vitamin D is even more difficult to attainable through diet alone.
We are all mindful of upping our nutrient profile and gaining more immune boosting support this winter. With our sunshine source of Vitamin D diminishing too why not take extra Vitamin D in a supplement form.
Did you know that Cleanmarine Orange Burst already contains your child’s daily requirement of Vitamin D 600IU which helps support immune function, along with Omega 3 EPA and DHA healthy fats to support concentration levels. DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function. The full beneficial effects of DHA is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA. Plus it has a delicious orange taste too!
